Asian markets tumble as US CPI data came higher than expected; Here are all other details

Stocks across Asian markets fell after the US inflation data for March came higher than expected, translating into worries that the Fed may keep interest rates higher for longer.

The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers rose 0.4% month-on-month in March. It climbed 3.5% over the last 12 months. 

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slumped over 1%, South Korean benchmark indices Kospi and Kosdaq fell about 0.5% each while China’s CSI 300 index slipped 0.56%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 lost 0.69%. The Australian S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.72%. Bucking the trend, the Asia Dow inched up 0.26% at 3,358.34.

DII buying hits new all-time highs, domestic investors buy shares worth Rs 44,000 crore in April

As the first month of FY25 drew to a close, Indian markets basked in the glow of new all-time highs, with a notable trend emerging: Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) remained net sellers while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued their buying spree.

On April 30, amidst the Nifty hitting a fresh peak and the Sensex approaching its all-time high, FIIs acquired equity worth Rs 1,071.93 crore, contrasting DIIs acquisition of shares valued at Rs 1,429.11 crore.

Nifty IT up on Accenture’s strong inorganic growth and acquisition spree

The sectoral index Nifty IT surged 2.7% to an intraday high of 35,875.30 after the IT bellwether Accenture reported its Q3 results. The company threw up a few positive elements, such as strong booking growth and raised the inorganic growth guidance from 2%+ to 3%.

However, Accenture revised its full-year revenue guidance, slashing the growth range to 1.5%–2.5%, compared to the previous growth guidance of 1%–3%.
